Going on vacation always throws me off my game and when you toss a couple of kids in the mix it takes even longer to get back on track. Nobody sleeps properly in a strange bed in a strange house and then it takes a week or two to get back into the usual at-home routine. Since our memorial day vacation 5 weeks ago I’ve yet been able to get back into said routine and instead I have been totally consumed with soaking up the moments with my kids and extended family. I have six months of maternity leave left before I am supposed to head back to my 9-5 job and I intend to spend it wisely. Although I am hoping that the Universe will get the memo that I want to be a work -from-home mom, this very sadly could be the last summer I have where I can be totally free from a job and frolic in the sun with my kids without a care in the world. The thought of this makes me sad beyond words, so the only thing I can do is to make sure I enjoy these next 10 weeks of summer with every ounce of my being. While I love this blog and having a creative outlet I’m going to be pulling back a little over the summer and only posting one recipe per week instead of three. I’ll be back in full swing in September and am already dreaming up maple and pumpkin inspired recipes! For now though it’s time to sit back, put my feet up and enjoy the sunshine!
1. My Dad, half-brothers and Grandma came up for the Father’s Day weekend and we ended up on an impromptu glamping trip and stayed in these super cool tents for a night. The kids had the BEST time especially when Grandpa brought out the water guns and s’mores.
2. While I will be taking it a bit easier this summer with the ole blog, I’ll be kicking it up into high gear in the fitness department. I’ve signed up for an 8 week boot camp at my gym and will be trying to get the rest of the baby weight off. For those of you who have not yet tried out the Joe Fresh line of work out gear get some now! It is
not see through really good quality and very inexpensive which means you can get new stuff every month!
3. This is my new fave breakie recipe that I am in LOVE with! It’s a good thing since it’s delicious, healthy and will help me on my weight loss endeavour.
4. I’ve recently joined the Wayfair Homemakers Network and I am very excited to be collaborating with them. I’m part of a super cool post project that starts next month, so stay tuned for some delicious recipes coming your way.
5.Kale is my new food obsession and I have been eating it like it is going out of style. This salad from Pinch of Yum and these quesadilla’s from Running to the Kitchen are my two go to meals that I could eat numerous times everyday.
So here’s to the weekend, full of sunshine, water fights and little faces with fudgesicle mustached smiles.
